The cork that makes up our yoga products comes from the bark of cork oak trees, which grow in Mediterranean Europe. No trees are cut down to harvest the cork. Instead, their bark is carefully stripped away by hand in a skilled trade that is passed down over generations.
It takes nine years for the bark to grow back thick enough to be harvested again. While regenerating their bark, cork trees absorb five times more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere vs. non-harvested trees.
